When it comes to kitchen hygiene, this is a concept that is only lightly touched on in most home economics courses nowadays. However, the importance of proper kitchen hygiene is hard to overestimate, since the opportunity for germs and other pathogens to spread from foods and surfaces to humans and animals is quite a bit higher in this room than in most others in the home. Fortunately, basic kitchen hygiene is quite easy to adhere to once you have a solid foundation in the subject. The first thing to remember regarding kitchen hygiene is freshness. If there are any signs of mold or decay on any foodstuffs, these items need to be thrown away immediately. The same goes for expired pantry items, as well. In the same vein, keeping your dishes clean is another basic aspect of kitchen hygiene that should never be overlooked, as the leftover food can decay and grow mold on dishes and pans very quickly. In order to keep these surfaces suitable for continued use by yourself and your family, be sure to wash and dry all dishes thoroughly in order to sidestep any kitchen hygiene issues on this front. The next major aspect of kitchen hygiene entails remembering to keep animal based foods away from any other foods that are not intended to be cooked prior to serving. Salmonella, e coli bacteria, and other unpleasant germs can easily be transferred via dirty surfaces, hands, and utensils as you work, so make sure that you thoroughly clean and disinfect all areas that have come in contact with animal products before moving onto the next project. Finally, another major kitchen hygiene tip simply entails putting any perishables in the refrigerator as soon as possible. This helps to avoid spoilage and contamination extremely well, so keep all of these tips in mind when using the room in question!
