Moving and Organization
|
When it comes to moving, organization is the key to making things run smoothly. Not only do you have to organize and pack your possessions while moving, but you also need to organize and coordinate various moving vendors and tasks, as well. This can seem like an intimidating experience at first, but if you write everything down and stick to a simple task list, your moving experience should be far smoother and easier than the many horror stories we have all heard from friends and family. Before choosing a moving vendor, decide realistically what your budget is going to be. Call around to the various moving vendors in your area, and ask for quotes on their products and services. Once you have a list of moving vendors that fit your price range, cross reference this list against the various consumer protection sites out there in order to determine how reliable and ethical these vendors are. Nothing can make a moving experience go sour faster than unreliable, crooked moving personnel, so do your best to protect yourself ahead of time. Once you have the moving vendor situation booked and under control, be sure to confirm any reservations you have at least twice before moving day. This gives you time to come up with an emergency plan B, if needed. Next, write down what you need to do before moving, such as turning off the utilities at your old place, and turning them on in your new one. Ensure that your new abode is ready for you, and that you have any necessary parking spaces for your trucks, et cetera, reserved ahead of time. Again, confirm all of these things at least twice before moving day. Be focused and diligent, and your moving experience should run like a well oiled machine.
