The Effectiveness Of Real Estate Text Messaging
|
Understanding the needs of busy clients is a must for anyone who hopes to make it as a real estate agent. The hectic schedules of clients make it tough to spend hours and hours discussing properties and plans. Sometimes an in-person meeting is simply out of the question. As a result, real estate agents must use technology to communicate effectively with clients and potential clients. Email is an obvious way, but more and more agents are turning to real estate text messaging as a clear way to get concise messages through to clients. Real estate text messaging takes on a few forms. The first is obvious messages that are directed at a particular client. This may be to confirm an appointment or say "thank you" after a good afternoon of house hunting. Most people who want to buy or sell a home wind up becoming close with their agents because it is such an emotional and life changing time. The best agents recognize this and use mobile communication on a personal level when it is appropriate. Many of this real estate text messaging has a personal flavor, as it should in the case of an agent and clients. The next level of real estate text messaging occurs when agents use the medium as a way to alert a group of clients at one time about something. This could be an open house that is coming up, or a pick of one or two "properties of the week" to highlight in a text format. For mass real estate text messaging campaigns, it is recommended that agents first ask permission from the clients, who likely receive a number of unwanted text messages and emails on a daily basis. In the case of buying or selling their home, however, these clients may want to make an exception to their normal "no mass texts" rule. However real estate text messaging is used, agents should use it in the way that will be most effective for their business. If texts of a personal nature seem to do the trick for an agent, then they should stick with that. If agents seem to get a good response from mass real estate text messaging, they should continue the use and find new ways to make it fresh. The bottom line is that reaching out to clients is the main concern for real estate agents and technology should be a part of the process.
